Letters and notes set list

I’ve decided to try and do my some of my poems live and have assembled a set list of poems I have written that I believe to be of acceptable quality and I am comfortable enough to see myself possibly being able to recite with confidence to capture the ‘Gretl Feeson’ persona I am looking for haha 🙂

Rumours from the street

Once upon a time in a dark cold place
I used to hear a voice that seemed awful two-faced
It would say these strange things that would lack conviction
Far-fetched tales proclaiming them as non-fiction
That in mind; it’s time for yous to leave
Consider these evictions for the poor depictions of just how cruel life can really be
If things get any worse, we’ll all be on our knees
Knees, please; I never did believe
The rhetoric, gossip
The rumours from the street

Delusions in the mind, just a rumour from the street
Rhetoric, gossip, rumours from the street.

Delusions in my mind, just a rumour from the street
Rhetoric, gossip, rumours from the street.

Now this ones called, wait; I don’t know
I don’t have skills, I don’t have flow
I’ve thirty-three years yet i’m still unknown
There goes another secret that I swore i’d never show
Still i’ve grown, i’m older and wiser
Ambitions with life to get much higher
To maybe start the family or even get the wife
The sort of stuff I had around me
That’s the tragedy of time
I used to spend mine searching for a sign
I’d look at other people, apply my judgement to their lives
I turn back to myself, you know what I find
Another loser piece of trash with delusion in the mind!

Delusions in the mind, just a rumour from the street
Rhetoric, gossip, rumours from the street.

Delusions in my mind, just a rumour from the street
Rhetoric, gossip, rumours from the street.

Delusions in my mind, just a rumour from the street
Rhetoric, gossip, rumours from the street.

Social Decline

Look, you can chat on Snap, Facebook, Insta ‘n’ that
Me, I’ve got my preference set to human contact
Living life on Twitter or the likes of Whatsapp
You tend to get depressed seeing all the things yours may lack
Then again, maybe that’s not necessarily true
For what if you hold a different point of view
Just another junkie before they hit the floor
You feel so much better than you ever did before
Next, you find you are counting foes amongst your friends
Food for thoughts and these ads that never seem to end
Morning through til night; they control that train of thought
We no longer give life meaning; turned into mindless robots

Young and curious, I opened all these doors
Old and useless, left only wanting more

Open your eyes

Image result for open your eyes painting

There was fear
Before there was love
I’ve experienced all the others
Still, don’t ask about trust
As I open my eyes
I surely must try
I’ll finish here
Say goodbye
Then go home and cry

It’s just lies for lies
It’s our job to go pry
I want your names
Your numbers
All your reasons for why
Most live in disguise
No-one on the rise
There’s little or no sentiment
We need to open our eyes

Look, here are my reasons
The name’s Gretl Feeson
And today i’ll be speaking
About war and combat
Take Syria to start
They’re gassing civilians
Tearing families apart
Then what of Iraq
Isis attacks
These problems and acts
Make world powers react
Retract! Retract!
Those statements aren’t facts
Another loser piece of trash
I have no problems with that

Word to the wise

Image result for Trust painting

There was fear
Before there was love
I’ve experienced all the others
Still, don’t ask about trust
As eyes connect to my
I’m usually so shy
I’ll finish here
Say goodbye
Then go home and cry

It’s a lie for a lie
It’s our job to go pry
I want your names
Your numbers
All your reasons for why
Some live in disguise
No-one seems to rise
There’s little or no sentiment
Just some word to the wise
